lecture: The Miracle of Blockchain

What's so magical about it?

Event_large

What blockchain is, what it does, what can it do, and how to subvert it.

The blockchain is a type of a distributed database in the hearts of all current practical cryptocurrencies. It's most striking property is that it is used for long-term fact-keeping in a mode where newly added data also serves to confirm and strengthen confidence in the old data. However, it is vulnerable to classical problems which accompany systems with distributed consensus. This talk will present an overview of common and less well known properties of the blockchain, as well as some interesting ideas about subverting it.

Intended audience: casual players.
